“This is not a game.”
Health Minister John Haggie says he’s still hearing about cases involving people who are not taking public health advisories seriously.
He scolded those who are trying to find ways around restrictions. He says COVID-19 is more than just the flu – it is a deadly virus and must be taken seriously.
Looking around, says Haggie, it’s become obvious that “common sense is not very common” in certain sectors.
Choose one person who must go out for essential items, and don’t make it a family affair says Haggie.
He says shopping is no longer a family activity; it is now just one person, one trip, each week, and don’t take your children with you unless there really is no alternative. He adds, “please don’t let them lick the handle of the shopping cart.”
In the meantime, Haggie has confirmed that RNC are following up on four separate cases of possible non-compliance with health restrictions. That includes a complaint alleging that someone with COVID-19 may have been seen recently shopping at Costco.
Minister Haggie says no charges have yet been laid in connection with the four follow-up cases.
