The sooner COVID-19 cases peak, the worse it will be for the province’s health care system.
That’s the warning from Health Minister John Haggie. The province’s models show that the peak in COVID-19 numbers might not be reached until the fall, but that, according to Haggie, is exactly what they’re hoping for.
That will allow them the time to ensure there are enough ICU beds available to handle increased numbers of critically-ill patients.
If not, government says the system could get easily overwhelmed.
