Over $120,000 is being put up to purchase laptops for city employees so that they can work from home.
The City of St. John’s council voted unanimously last night to go ahead with the supply from their emergency fund.
The last time emergency funding was used was during Snowmaggedon for snow clearing equipment.
Mayor Danny Breen says they will not be laying off permanent employees anytime soon like many other cities in the country.
He says they have a significant number of employees working from home across many departments and the city did not have a supply of computers to give them.
