The federal government says they are exploring additional means of support for the fish and seafood sector.

This comes after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the expansion of the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) to include seasonal workers a few days ago.

Federal Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Bernadette Jordan, says the department will continue to be engaged with the industry on the state of the sector and season openings for fisheries in particular.

She applauds the resiliency and commitment to ensure the access of an important food source.
