A local company has switched gears to produce equipment to help protect front line workers and the general public from COVID-19.
Granville Biomedical has developed a number of 3D printed Personal Protective Equipment to help people in the province during the pandemic.
Co-founder and CEO Christine Goudie, says that they are 3D printing face shields for front line workers to help meet demand.
Not only has Granville Biomedical chipped-in to protect front line workers, a number of their products also help to lower the risk of contracting COVID-19 during everyday activities.
Goudie says something as simple as “button-pushers” can go a long way when it comes to avoiding frequent contact points.
The company is also producing door openers and ear savers to reduce some of the physical tension and pain felt from wearing PPE for a long period of time.
Goudie says the decision to change their product line was a “no-brainer.”
She says once Justin Trudeau called on everyone who could to help, her decision was made.
Goudie says things are changing quickly and the company is now working towards producing swabs that test people for COVID-19.
