Nova Scotia RCMP says 17 people are dead after a man went on a 12-hour rampage beginning Saturday night and continuing into Sunday afternoon.
Police confirm that 51-year-old, Gabriel Wortman—the gunman—is dead. The incident began in the small town of Portapique, but the chase ultimately ended at a gas station in Enfield, Nova Scotia. The shooter is said to have worn a police uniform, driving a mock-up RCMP cruiser.
Among the victims is Constable Heidi Stevenson—a 23-year member of the force, and mother of two.
#Colchester: Gabriel Wortman may be driving what appears to be an RCMP vehicle & may be wearing an RCMP uniform. There's 1 difference btwn his car and our RCMP vehicles: the car #. The suspect's car is 28B11, behind rear passenger window. If you see 28B11 call 911 immediately. pic.twitter.com/yyeOeBt8Ui

The shooter was allegedly wearing parts of a police uniform and driving a vehicle impersonating that of the RCMP.
The RCMP says several people were also injured, however, not many details were released in an update on Sunday evening, as the investigation is still in its early stages.
The RCMP’s Officer Responsible for Criminal Operations in Nova Scotia, Chris Leather says it is an incredibly detailed and complex investigation that has “forever changed” countless lives, and left multiple victims. He states that their focus now is to gather all evidence and information and get answers to many unanswered questions.
Leather says the RCMP will provide further information when it’s possible to do so.
