A recent investigation into a reported sighting of a cougar on the Northeast Avalon has reached a successful conclusion. But the suspect animal is more “Mittens” than “Mountain Lion.”
The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources announced this morning that the culprit behind reports of a large cat prowling near Torbay was indeed a large cat—but of the domestic variety.
Conservation officers set up trail cameras in the area as part of their investigation.
This morning, they shared images captured over the weekend, of what they determined was actually a “large domestic cat.”
