The Opposition’s Health Critic says they’re getting calls about hardship created by 30-day prescription renewals.
David Brazil says the move, while necessary, is creating hardship for some residents, particularly seniors and those who are on multiple prescriptions.
The concern, says Brazil, relates to dispensing fees which are charged each time a prescription is filled.
One prescription might not be such a big deal, says Brazil, but it can add up for those on more than one medication.

Brazil credits the provincial government for stepping up and supporting pharmacists to cover the dispensing fees, but some people are still falling through the cracks.
He says some insurance plans don’t cover the added expense, while others with no insurance have to pay it themselves.
He says it’s not fair that people have to pay the price for something that is not of their making.
