Today’s daily provincial COVID-19 update included a demonstration and information on the proper use of a non-medical face mask.
Brenda Earles, an Infection Control Nurse-Specialist provided a demonstration on the proper use of cloth and home-made masks.
Premier Dwight Ball says the demonstration was planned amid growing questions surrounding the use of masks in public, and new federal rules requiring the use of face masks in air travel.
He says it’s also for people who travel on ferries and buses and cannot maintain safe physical distancing.
Dr. Fitzgerald reiterates that wearing a mask may not necessarily protect you, but can protect those around as it prevents from spreading droplets.
Masks can become contaminated on the outside when touched by hand. @VOCMNEWS #covid19nfld
