The contribution of volunteers will be recognized this evening as people take to their front steps to make some noise for front-line workers.
Each Sunday evening since the province’s public health emergency was declared, people had been showing their appreciation for health care, front-line, and essential workers by beating pots and pans, playing instruments, singing, and honking horns.
Volunteer Week wrapped up yesterday, and the Community Sector Council is asking people to think about and thank the many volunteers who touch nearly every aspect of daily life in the province.
Roberta Hewitt of the Community Sector Council says they are glad they could celebrate despite the circumstances.
She says it was a really exciting week for volunteers. They believe it was the biggest year for social media interaction and for getting the word out about volunteer week.
The show of support takes place this evening at 7 p.m.
Sunday at 7pm to honor awesome volunteers there will be a double applause to Health Heroes and Essential workers and to volunteers who give so much @PremierofNL @Johnrockdoc @lisadempster @Bernard Davis @gerrybyrne57 @TomOsborneMHA @DannyBreenNL #applaudingvolunteersNL #NVW2020 https://t.co/ZAOSk99wYj
