Spitting at a police officer while claiming you tested positive for COVID-19 can land you in serious trouble.
Just ask a 52-year old Nain woman who was pulled over in the community by police Friday evening on suspicion of driving her snowmobile while impaired.
The woman, who failed a roadside breath test, allegedly spat at and coughed in the arresting officer’s face, claiming she tested positive for COVID-19.
She was taken into custody where breath samples showed she was more than twice the legal limit. She’s facing charges of impaired driving and assaulting a police officer.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old Nain woman was charged with impaired operation of a snowmobile in a separate incident in the community earlier in the day.
