A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in Natuashish as part of a police investigation into alleged violations of the Federal Indian Act.
Natuashish is a dry community, and alcohol is strictly prohibited.
On Saturday morning, RCMP were informed that someone was selling alcohol from a home in the town. Officers witnessed two women leaving the home with three bottles of alcohol in their possession—one full bottle, and two open bottles.
After obtaining a warrant, officers searched the home, locating another eight full bottles of alcohol and two open bottles.
Police say the 21-year-old woman was under the influence of alcohol, and as such was found in breach of a court order. She was released to appear in court at a later date.
Other area residents were initially arrested, but released without charge.
