The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is offering her gratitude to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador whose actions have helped to minimize the impacts of the first wave of COVID-19.
There were no new confirmed cases of the virus in the province again today—and only two new cases in total since April 17.
222 of the 258 total number of cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador have recovered. Four people are in hospital and two are in ICU. Three people have died.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald thanked residents today for their ongoing efforts to keep the virus in check. She indicated that the easing of restrictions will be slow, and phased-in.
Dr. Fitzgerald today issued an amendment to a previous public health order. Staff working in Personal Care Homes are not allowed to engage in any other employment.
Her previous order prevented staff in Personal Care Homes from working in more than one location.
