The snow crab fishery has been officially delayed until at least May 11. The FFAW asked DFO to wait until that date, and Ottawa has agreed to do so.
Some are critical of delaying the fishery until that time as it would normally open at least a month sooner.
The union has COVID-related concerns about working in the plants, but industry says it has taken the proper precautions and is ready to go.
