Social distancing is a concern for residents forced to evacuate in Fort McMurray, where the region has been hit hard with flooding.
Many residents just had their homes rebuilt after the wildfires that ravaged the area in 2016.
Krista Bolsom, who is from Random Island, has been living in Fort McMurray since 2011 and is a member of the Wood Buffalo Council.
She says trying to evacuate residents and save parts of the town is challenging with current restrictions in place.
Bolsom says the Premier did relax some of the measures to allow for 15 people to help with flood prevention.
She says the flood is causing unprecedented damage. This isn’t an average river break up that is causing flash flooding; this is a natural disaster that is wreaking havoc on homes and businesses.
Bolsom says they also have to keep an eye on fire season, which is just around the corner.
