The provincial government is changing the rules and waiving or reducing some fees and taxes to help restaurants and lounges that sell alcohol.
One of the changes will allow the sale of alcohol with takeout orders, something for which the hospitality industry has been lobbying. In addition, they will allow brewers, wineries and distilleries the ability to offer home delivery.
The Newfoundland Liquor Corporation is going to waive liquor license fees for the fiscal year, and will work with industry to allow returns of unused product to help with cash flow. The NLC is also waiving warehousing service fees for smaller microbreweries
The NLC is going to lower prices for the beverage industry by five per cent, and will allow U-Brew outlets to bottle beverages for their customers who started batches of wines or beer prior to the COVID-19 restrictions.
Starting Tuesday, Osborne has committed to bring forward the legislation to allow for the temporary direct sale of alcohol to customers by restaurants and other licensed establishments that sell prepared meals for takeout/curb side pickup and delivery. @VOCMNEWS
