The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador will make a decision May 11th regarding whether or not to lift the suspension on the Liberal Leadership race.
The contest, spurred by the Premier’s announced intention to step down earlier this year, was suspended in March due to COVID-19.
Two people offered themselves for the leadership: former bureaucrat John Abbott and surgeon Andrew Furey.
Premier Dwight Ball says won’t be seeking re-election, but he will stay on in the Premier’s role for the time being. He says his focus right now is on the people of the province.
He plans to stay on for as long as it takes to navigate through the current health crisis.
