The English School District does not want parents or caregivers to stress out about homeschooling during what is already a difficult time.
The school board is sending out packages by mail with suggestions on how to ensure that students are learning, without focusing too much on rigorous academic achievement.
Director Tony Stack says they don’t expect parents to be teachers, but there are all kinds of learning opportunities that can be fun for families, while teachers are available to act as guides.
He says parental involvement is important, but he cautions you don’t want to turn students off altogether.
They don’t want parents to become “learning police” which can have a detrimental impact on a child’s ability to learn.
District Using Text-Based Communications
Many parents and students are wondering if an unusual text message from the English School District this morning is authentic. It is.
They’re using SchoolMessenger system to ask parents if they wish to receive correspondence from their schools through text. Any messages received from 978-338 is a legitimate school board text.
