St. John’s has drafted new parking regulations with minimums and maximums and, for the first time, bicycles are included.
The updated regulations are broad-ranging, but new developments will have to accommodate parking spaces for bicycles.
Bicycle stands are common but not mandatory, however, they will become mandatory if city council goes along with the proposal.
Bicycle parking will be required for all new developments, including apartment buildings, retail use and office use.
The standards include a number of parking spaces, appropriate siting and devices to secure bicycles.
