An 18-year-old man from Hopedale has been arrested after a violent assault left another man with serious injuries.

The incident unfolded Monday afternoon as police got a call that a man had been murdered. RCMP say he was unresponsive but was alive.

He was taken from the residence for urgent medical treatment, then airlifted to the Health Sciences for treatment of a number of serious injuries.

Daniel Onalik was arrested outside the residence without incident.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held in custody until a bail hearing next Tuesday.
