The Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador is expanding and increasing the number of cases it will hear.
While most routine matters requiring physical attendance continue to be adjourned until the courtrooms can be reopened, the court will now decide all criminal trials which can be properly presented using virtual means. The court system has recently increased their video conferencing capabilities.
Anyone wishing to have a case determined by the court should follow the process on the court website.
The Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador is following much of the same protocol. The court will be expanding the types of appearances that will proceed via teleconference and video conference.
This will include criminal, civil and family.
The court will contact counsels and parties that have conferences and applications scheduled on or after May 19 to reschedule as soon as possible.
They will also be keeping their website up-to-date.
