A local meat producer is pivoting to address increased demand and challenges in getting product to market.
Bill Gregory of Haricot Farms produces beef and lamb, and says with the shutdown of the St. John’s Farmers Market, they shifted to online orders.
Since then they’ve seen an increase in interest, especially in beef. He jokes that ground beef has become the new toilet paper in terms of demand.
Overall, Gregory says food security concerns for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians appear to be amplified by the current pandemic.
