The traffic lights have been reactivated at Rawlins Cross, converting the area back to an intersection from a roundabout.
The controversial pilot project received mixed reviews from the public – and council.
City officials say the number of collisions was reduced in the roundabout, but pedestrians repeatedly raised safety concerns.
In the end council narrowly voted to see the pilot project come to an end, but the debate continues.
On Twitter yesterday, councillor Maggie Burton and Deptuty Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary went toe-to-toe on Rawlins Cross.
Burton argued that there are fewer crosswalks in the area, indicating that the decision to dismantle the roundabout was “frustrating”, but O’Leary argued area residents were strongly opposed to the project.
