The Ron Cadigan Foundation is carrying on with its namesake’s legacy of giving back to the community by putting off a free hockey school in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.
The Foundation raises money for the Parkinson’s Society and makes donations for research into Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA), which is the disease that claimed Cadigan’s life.
Ron’s son, Dan Cadigan, told VOCM’s Sunday Drive with Darrell Power that they will be taking 30 players and four 4 goalies from each age group including novice, atom and peewee.
He says the hockey school was an easy choice.
His dad was so involved in hockey that they thought it was fitting to throw a hockey camp. It will be free for kids in the area as camps nowadays can put a financial strain on many families.
Registration for kids living in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove, opens today at 4:00 p.m. and runs until August 2nd. If all spots are not filled, registration will open at 10:00 a.m. on August 5th for kids in the Northeast Minor Hockey Association.
The camp will take place on September 15th, and again on September 19th and 20th.
