Two women in Labrador had to be rescued after flipping a canoe last week.
On Friday, July 26th, at around 4:30 p.m., Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP received a report that a canoe had overturned in Gosling Lake, approximately 16 kilometers outside of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Police along with Ground Search and Rescue responded and found two women, both wearing lifejackets, in the water and unable to get back in their canoe.
An RCMP officer paddled out in a kayak to confirm the women’s condition and waited with them until Search and Rescue boats arrived to bring them back to land.
Both women were transported to Labrador Grenfell Health where they were treated and later released.
