A combination of spring runoff and rain has caused high water levels in the area of Deer Lake.

Photos posted to Facebook yesterday show the Oasis Grillhouse on Pasadena Beach completely surrounded by water.

Deer Lake Mayor Dean Ball says the town has been watching water levels for a number of weeks and has not seen anything alarming.

He notes such high water levels are unusual without a significant weather event, and that it’s spring runoff and rain that are causing the problems.

He admits while the situation is concerning, they aren’t in trouble. He says there isn’t any major rainfall in the forecast, but they will be monitoring things very closely.
