An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that resulted in significant damage to a home in the centre city area, displacing two people, and claiming the lives of some pets.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Empire Avenue yesterday evening.
Platoon Chief Paul Chaytor with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department says the fire originated at the back of the two-unit residence.
The two occupants were uninjured, but sadly, the fire claimed the lives of some young dogs.
