Two men are facing the judge this morning following two separate incidents involving assault.

Police were first called to the center city of St. John’s shortly after 1 p.m. when they received a call about a man with a weapon in the area.

A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, mischief and causing a disturbance.

He was held at the lockup for court.

Later in the evening, RNC arrested a 29-year-old man in CBS for assaulting a woman known to him.

The assault happened in a public place and had been witnessed by a member of the public who helped the victim after the assault and alerted police.

He will appear before a judge this morning.
