RNC say the death of a man on Craigmillar Avenue early Sunday morning was not a random act.
The body of a man was discovered lying in the middle of the residential street around 4:00 a.m. after what area residents describe as a loud altercation.
Home security footage from the general area obtained by VOCM News appears to capture five loud gunshots.
Police sent out an advisory to residents at the time, asking them to “shelter in place” and the road was closed for an extended period as officers processed the scene.
Police are continuing their investigation and will provide further updates as they become available.
Meanwhile, questions are being raised as to why the RNC did not issue an alert in response to yesterday morning’s incident.

A tweet went out to “shelter in place” but no alert was issued.
The RNC says police quickly determined after arriving on scene that the situation was contained to Craigmillar Avenue.
The Constabulary says officers canvassing the neighbourhood were able to speak with residents face-to-face within very short order to update them of the situation
