A St. John’s City Councillor is encouraging residents to call the 311 line if they’re bothered by a late-night noise complaint.
A number of noise complaints came after loud music was playing late into the night on rooftop bars on George Street.
Councillor Hope Jamieson says these rooftop bars are bound by the City’s noise by-law and subject to the same regulations as all other businesses and residences in the City. She encourages anyone being bothered by noise after 11 p.m. to call 311 so that the issue can be addressed.
Jamieson says they only received one call over the weekend, so it’s important if people do have complaints to call the City, because once they get a complaint they can take proper action.
The City Councillor says George Street Festival did receive a noise by-law exemption until midnight, which is in-line with other years, but that is only for music coming from the stage.
