Just about a month before the big event was set to get underway, Targa Newfoundland has postponed this year’s races.
Organizers announced the news today, with hopes that it will return in strength in 2020.
In a post to Facebook, Targa Newfoundland president Robert Giannou says the decision follows the cancellation of a half-dozen entries within a short time frame.
With little time to fill the remaining roster, he says it’s not viable to run the event this year and risk financial loss.
Instead, the tentative date for the next event has been set for September 12 to the 19, 2020.
Competitors with paid entries will have their race registration moved ahead to next year.
