One of the unions that represents postal workers believes they can help improve access to environmentally-friendly vehicles across the province.
Chief Shop Steward of CUPW, Craig Dyer says the union has been actively involved in the promotion of charging stations in Newfoundland and Labrador for years.
He claims the union is “disappointed” that they weren’t brought to the table for charging station discussions, and that Canada Post offices are not in the picture as locations for the technology.
Dyer says there are over 6,300 retail post offices “from coast to coast to coast,” and calls it a great opportunity to make use of the existing infrastructure.
He contends that in many communities, post offices are the only federal entity—and questions why government isn’t making use of the available infrastructure.
