A car crash on Pitts Memorial yesterday afternoon at Southlands Boulevard claimed a man’s life.
The single-vehicle accident happened at about 2:30, and resulted in the closure of the highway for several hours. RNC say the vehicle came to rest in the median near the Ruby Line exit.
The driver was rushed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries but the passenger, a 58-year-old man from St. John’s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The RNC is asking anyone who saw the accident or has dashcam footage to contact them at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The RNC Veterans Association is offering condolences to the family of Cst. Doc Ballard.
