“She’s on the rocks, and taking in water.”
That’s one Central Newfoundland tourism operator’s assessment of the local industry.
Graham Wood operates Mussel Bed Boat tours out of Lewisporte.
He fears the local tourism industry will be destroyed in the next few years if the province isn’t able to take in outside visitors.
Wood says while Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are staycationing, the local population alone cannot sustain the industry.
“Our small population can’t keep up…can’t produce a $1.2-billion industry,” said Wood.
