Christopher Mitchelmore, the MHA for St. Barbe-L’anse aux Meadows, will not be seeking re-election in his district.
Mitchelmore confirmed the career move in a statement during the swearing-in of Premier Andrew Furey’s cabinet. He previously filled the role as Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour.
This decision was not an easy one, as it is a pleasure to serve the people the Great Northern Peninsula and along with your support and my commitment to the area, we achieved great things. I commend Premier Furey for stepping up to lead our province during this difficult time and to my colleagues who have the opportunity to serve in his Cabinet. I look forward to working with our Government members and all members of the House of Assembly for the betterment of our province. Together we will build a brighter future for Newfoundland and Labrador.
