A combined effort helped prevent further damage from a recent vessel fire in Port Saunders.
Photos show significant structural damage to the vessel, which was all but destroyed by the flames. By the time the blaze was subdued, the boat came to a rest partially submerged in the water.,
The Canadian Coast Guard deployed its Environmental Response Team to help contain pollutants. Setting up a boom, crews went to work halting the spread of contaminants until the threat of pollution was eliminated.
Officials say they also worked with the vessel’s owner to ensure a clean-up plan was put in place.
