One person has been sent to hospital with undetermined injuries after a car crashed into the Virginia River in the east end of St. John’s.
The incident happened just after 11:30 this morning on Logy Bay Road.
Officials say the cause of the accident appears to have been a medical emergency.

The driver—who was travelling towards Newfoundland Drive—crossed the centre line, went up onto the sidewalk, crossed a portion of a walking trail, and crashed down into the river.
Though several people could be seen walking along the popular trail, no one else was injured in the incident.
