Goulds councillor Wally Collins says it’s been a tough couple of weeks for the Dinn family.
They are the owners of the Woodland Dairy farm which was ravaged by fire on the night of February 22.
The blaze destroyed the dairy’s barn and about 80 cattle inside. It’s estimated that about 20 animals were saved.
Collins told St. John’s city council yesterday that it’s a sad situation. He says it was a big shock for everyone involved, adding it’s very unfortunate that it happened.
Collins says farmers in the area have been helping out by taking care of the cattle that were saved.
He hopes the city can expedite any permits the Dinns might need to help them get back on their feet.
