The number of COVID cases in the province’s corrections system have dropped considerably.
Justice Minister John Hogan says with the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant, it was bound to show up in corrections facilities.
In the meantime, Hogan says while the numbers fluctuate on a daily basis, as of yesterday there were no cases at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary and only two cases in all correctional facilities province-wide.
He says there are no plans to release inmates as a result.
