A man out for a walk on the trails in Mount Pearl last night is sickened after what he saw some kids on bicycles do with a helpless animal.
In a post to Facebook, the man says he was walking on the Powers Pond trail when four or five young fellows emerged from the woods on the side path by the small pond. He says one of them had a duck tied to his bike by the neck, and was dragging it along the path. It was bizarre to the extent that he wasn’t even certain if he had seen it.
He continued on to make a disturbing discovery.
He saw duck feathers everywhere and heard one of the friends say “I want no part of this.”
The man did get some pictures, and has contacted police. VOCM News is not sharing pictures of the young people allegedly involved in the incident.
Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says everyone is shocked by the incident.
He’s encouraging parents to talk to their kids about the right ways to enjoy the trail system.
He’s also asking anyone who may know something about the incident to contact the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
