Corner Brook Mayor Jim Parsons is proud of building the west coast city as the “Cruise Ship Capital of Newfoundland.”
Corner Brook saw a record-breaking cruise ship season in 2023 with 16 vessels and 28 port calls.
The city welcomed close to 41,000 passengers and another 20,000 crew members—a dramatic increase over the previous season.
Parsons says that represents a big economic boost to the city and surrounding communities.
“I think over $14 million dollars of economic value in those visits,” says Parsons. He says that also represents great marketing value as all the pictures taken by visitors and word-of-mouth gets shared. “Next year is promising to be an even bigger year.”
