Easter Monday collides with St. George’s Day today and as a result, most public offices will be closed.
Easter Monday is a federal holiday so that means he closure of post offices and other federal operations.
However, tomorrow is St. George’s Day but the work world is celebrating that today in order to get the long weekend.
That means most towns, cities and provincial government offices will be closed. However, it is not a Shops Closing Day so banks and stores are open.
Larry Dohey told VOCM’s Brian O’Connell on Archival Moments on the weekend that Newfoundland and Labrador is the only jurisdiction in the entire world that has a holiday to celebrate St. George’s Day.
He says on the holiday it is traditional to remind people of the significance and wear a red rose.
