A registered heritage structure is currently being restored in the Bay St. George region.
The Legge Homestead in Cartyville was built in 1905 and is an example of what early twentieth century farmhouses would have looked like across the province.
According to the Heritage Foundation, it shows the way of life that was sustained by families and communities in the region. When a branch railway line to the Codroy Valley was built there in the early 1900s, the region quickly became a centre of commercial agriculture.
The Legge Homestead is a wooden, two and a half storey house. The designation is confined to the footprint of the building.
