Members of the film community gathered today to launch the beginning of the Nickel Independent Film Festival’s 19th year. This year over 40 per cent of the films were made by Newfoundlanders.
Executive Director of the festival, Elling Lien says local film is very important to the festival and that he always encourages those who are interested in filmmaking to get involved.
Lien says the festival always works to expose Newfoundlanders to films made by people of all genders and backgrounds.
The Nickel Independent Film festival is June 17 to the 22nd at the LSPU Hall.
