Someone who works directly with the victims of sexual assault says it is vitally important to talk about the issue of unwanted sexual advances and behaviours at every age.
Executive Director of the NL Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre, Nicole Keiley says sexual violence is prevalent at all ages, including those who are still in school.
Keiley was responding to new data showing that sexual violence in the province’s schools is worse than reported. Keiley told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly the incidents reported run the gamut.
They include everything from unwanted displays to sexual assaults. She says it’s important that incidents are reported because if they’re not, there’s no way to dive down into the root of the problem and hear from those who are experiencing harm.
