Workplace NL says that its injury fund has more than enough to cover the costs of current and future workplace injury claims.

The fund is currently sitting at almost 120 per cent funding.

A temporary 21 cent discount on assessment rates paid by employers was applied in January of this year to address the surplus.

This is the fifth year that the fund has been fully-funded.

The lost-time incidence rate for injury and illness has also remained steady at 1.6 per 100 workers.

Workplace NL’s focus on modernizing its delivery of services is also being termed a success. Currently 96 per cent of annual employer statements are being filed via the the Connect online service.

Online services will be mandatory for all employers by the end of 2019.
