Good news for snack lovers, Hawkin’s Cheezies are in no danger of disappearing from shelves.
A Tuesday fire in Hawkin’s Belleville Ontario plant shut down operations earlier this week, but there are plenty of cheezies left to go around in the offsite warehouse until production resumes.
No one was injured, and luckily there was no structural damage to the plant from the fire which was contained to one of their industrial fryers.
However, the plant will remained shuttered until Sunday, according to Hawkins Director of Finance Tony McGarvey.
He says you don’t need to panic as there will be supplies of cheezies yet throughout the summer months.
Earlier Story
They’re one of the province’s favorite snacks, but Hawkins Cheezies nearly ran into some trouble earlier this week, when a fire broke out at their Belleville, Ontario factory.
Fire crews from the local department responded to an alarm at the factory on the afternoon of July 9th. Reports indicate a fire broke out at one of the facility’s industrial fryers.
Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the roof of the facility, as firefighters set out to quench the fire.
Fortunately, the Belleville Fire Department says no one was injured, and damage was limited to the fryer in question. The factory remains closed as the investigation continues.
Hawkins Cheezies ran into another stretch of bad luck in 2016, when a storage warehouse was destroyed by fire.
