A sudden deluge caused the pavement to open up on Prescott Street in the capital city’s downtown yesterday afternoon.
The sinkhole opened up following heavy rains, affecting a portion of the road between Duckworth and Gower streets.
Efforts are underway to fix the damage which extends approximately 50 metres. Detours are in place and the road closure will remain in effect until mid-morning tomorrow.
