The provincial government has renamed a stretch of highway on the west coast in memory of a well-known community leader.
Route 420 is now known as Randy House Memorial Drive.
House passed away last year at the age of 55. He was a former mayor of Jackson’s Arm, a Canadian Ranger, volunteer firefighter, first aid instructor and emergency medical responder.
House’s daughter Emma Dalley, was emotional while speaking about her father and his impact.
She says he didn’t like being the center of attention, and would find a clever way to take the attention off himself. Through a cracking voice, Dalley says her father loved his community and they will be comforted in seeing some of that love reflected in the naming of the highway.
