The Technical Director of Tennis NL hopes Bianca Andreescu’s US Open championship pays dividends for tennis all across the country.
Mike Meaney says tennis has already been on the rise over the last couple of years thanks to the success of rising young starts like Denis Shapovalov, Milos Raonic and Eugenie Bouchard.
He says they have seen programs expanding, and are up 40 per cent from last summer.

Meaney hopes the win gives female tennis a boost.
He says worldwide, female tennis is on the way down as they’re losing girls in the 14-15 age bracket to team sports. Meaney believes that trend is turning around and this victory will propel that forward.
